The restored windmill is a landmark which can be seen from Pittenweem to Elie around this East Neuk coastline. Located on the edge of St. Monans village, where it once powered waterpumps for the salt pan beds, adjacent.

Jem moved to the East Neuk from Bristol in 2020. He has quickly settled in getting to know the best locations for painting. To quote him, “Whenever I’m out in the landscape I’m also thinking about how to ‘capture’ and share that experience. The great watercolourists have shown that this medium is all we should need. In theory it can be simple, but watercolour has its own ideas…”
